Accommodation in Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires is the Capital City of Argentina and offers many different accommodation opportunities.

The Summer School will take place both in the city centre, at the Faculty of Economics at the University of Buenos Aires and at the Faculty of Architecture, Design and Urban Planning, which lies about half an hour away from the city centre. The Summer School Secretariat will assist participants in finding an accommodation during the course.

General travel information
The Argentine peso is the national currency. Tickets are 2, 5, 1 O, 20, 50 and 100. Coins are for 1 peso and 0.50, 0.25, 0.1 O, 0.05 cents. Many businesses accept payment dollars. Exchange international currency you should refer to branches of the Banks or authorized exchange offices. Banks are open Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 15:00 hs. Sometimes there may be disadvantages in changing or accepting checks, so they are not recommended.
Leave the money in the safety box of your hotel or residence and do not carry large sums of cash. After 22:00 hs avoid privateTaxis and look for Radio Taxis and "Remises". Avoid showing off your camera when walking down the street.
In the southern hemisphere Summer is in January, February and part of December and March. It has mild temperatures and long days. Winter is from June to August.

Tax free shopping
Foreigners from neighboring countries need a document (ID, passport or identity card) to enter Argentina. Visitors from other countries must have a passport.
Visitors from countries not bordering Argentina are exempt from all taxes on purchases made in tax free shops within the national territory for no more than 300 US dollars. The maximum length of your stay in Argentina as a tourist is 90 days.
Telephone Communications
Public telephones work with legal tender. There are also telephone booths, that are ofter open 24 hours. These booths also have computers connected to the Internet. To call abroad from Argentina you must dial 00 (double zero), the country code and prefix to the corresponding city.

Bus Terminals
- Estacion terminal Constitution: from there you travel south of the province of Buenos Aires.
Address: General Hornos 11
Directions: Subway line C, Constitución station.
- Estacion Terminal Retiro: traveling to northern and northwestern suburbs. It is located a few meters from the Retiro bus station (54 '11) 4310 0700.

Directions: Line C underground. These stations replace the former railway lines Mitre, Belgrano and San Martin.

Subways
There are five subway lines A, B, C, D and E is the fastest and easiest way to reach your destination.
