Mara J. Goldman - Department of Geography, University of Colorado Boulder
Prof. Goldman is the author of Narrating Nature: Wildlife Conservation and Maasai Ways of Knowing (2020). Her work focuses on how to decolonize conservation practices around the world, particularly at the intersection of political ecology, science studies, and Indigenous knowledge systems.
This seminar will provide input to the research group conducting fieldwork in Tanzania as part of the FOCE research project ("Postdevelopment Geographies of Local Food Systems: Community-Based Networks Addressing Food Insecurity).

FOCE focuses on local economies and alternative food systems rooted in relational, informal, and cultural practices of food production, distribution, and consumption. Key themes include ancestral knowledge, more-than-human relationships, access to land and resources, environmental degradation, and regenerative practices.
